Jamesa Hawthorne (she/they) is currently pursuing their BFA in fashion at the Savannah College of Art and Design in Savannah, Georgia. They're expected to graduate in the Spring of 2028.
Prior to pursuing fashion professionally, Jamesa trained as an herbalist, launching their eponymous apothecary product line and community platform, Jam Haw Herbals in 2019. With their accompanying educational workshops, weekly newsletter, and social justice initiatives, Jamesa gained recognition from media outlets such as the Los Angeles Times, New York Times, Well + Good, and others.
Deeply moved by the medicine of plants, Jamesa decided to pursue fashion design to expand their applications of herbalist principles to apparel. Jamesa believes textile innovation holds incredible potential to impact the wearer, especially when approached through an herbal and bio-therapeutic lens. Through Haus of Jam, Jamesa aims to continue the legacy of Jam Haw Herbals by creating fashion that not only empowers but also nourishes the wearer—both aesthetically and functionally.
